Welcome to HOPEFUL ACRES
Hopeful Acres is a 501 C-3 non-profit organization that provides healing, hope, and support to those experiencing physical and/or mental trauma through Equine-Assisted Activities (caring-for, learning-about, tacking-up, lunging, and riding). Although we offer programs/services to the general public, we give precedence to the following primary sectors:
"Special Needs Children/Adults"
"Veterans including their families"
We serve the greater San Antonio, Texas community.
Vision, Mission, Tagline
VISION: To lift-up and empower those who are being held down by life’s circumstances.
MISSION: Hopeful Acres’ mission is to provide for healing, hope, and support to those experiencing physical and mental trauma through Equine-Assisted Activities and other support services.
TAGLINE: Heal. Hope. Support.
Provide Healing: through the proven therapeutic benefit our participants will attain from being around animals in a country-type setting. We embrace our participants and simply meet them where they are in life.
Provide Hope: through the increased self-confidence level and encouragement our participants will gain by the simple interaction with our staff and animals. We inspire our participants to trust and believe in a higher power.
Provide Support: through sharing applicable community resources/information based on our participants' individual needs and situation. We empower our participants to overcome any adversities or obstacles they may be facing.
The Founder’s “Why”
Rick always had a special place in his heart for special needs children/adults as he had and eventually lost his baby brother (Jay) to challenges associated with Down syndrome. This organization is his way to keep Jay’s memory alive, and bring a moment of joy to families with special needs children/adults that will hopefully last a lifetime.
Rick, as a Veteran who served for 24 years in the Army understands the challenges created by multiple deployments and the pain of being away from one’s family and friends. With this, Rick has the strong desire to help his fellow Veterans including their families.
Rick not only wants to see these special "friends" and military brothers and sisters survive, but his goal is they thrive!
