The Founder’s “Why”
Rick always had a special place in his heart for special needs children/adults as he had and eventually lost his baby brother (Jay) to challenges associated with Down syndrome. This organization is his way to keep Jay’s memory alive, and bring a moment of joy to families with special needs children/adults that will hopefully last a lifetime.
Rick, as a Veteran who served for 24 years in the Army understands the challenges created by multiple deployments and the pain of being away from one’s family and friends. With this, Rick has the strong desire to help his fellow Veterans including their families.
Rick's upbringing would have certainly placed him in the "youth-at-risk" category, so he can absolutely relate to this well-deserving population. Rick inspires to create an environment where all youth (especially those considered to be at-risk) get a fair chance to have a fulfilling and meaningful life.
Rick not only wants to see these special "friends," military brothers and sisters, and our youth-at-risk survive, but his goal is they thrive!
